FESTIVAL GUIDELINES

Opening Times & Running Times:

Saturday 

  • Gates will open at 12h00

  • Main arena performances commence at 12h00 and conclude at 01h00

  • Other stage performances commence at 12h00 and conclude at 03h00

Any changes to the running order will be displayed on line-up boards beside the stages and through social media. Yurt City may change the line-up any time before or during the festival without notice. There will be no admittance to the festival grounds after 20h00; exception being festival go-ers whom already have wristbands


Age Policy

Yurt City is an over 19s event.  


DRESS CODE

Remember we’re in Ireland…and it rains even in the summer! While we guarantee you a great line-up of entertainment for the weekend we cannot guarantee fine weather so please pack for all eventualities! You may need some or all of the following…wellies / waterproofs / sweaters/ sunhats / sunscreen / shorts / strong shoes

Anything can happen…be sure to check the weather forecast before you plan your trip!


lost property

Lost property should be handed into the “Lost & Found” booth onsite. Please email us office@yurtcity.ie after the event if you are still looking for your lost items. We will hold these for a maximum of three days after the event; please check with Tullamore Gardai station after this time


Forms of ID

Driving Licence / Passport / Gardai Card are all acceptable forms of identification

Anyone who appears U19yrs will be asked for ID to enter the festival

Anyone who appears U19yrs will be asked for ID if purchasing alcohol

 Things to leave at home

 NO GLASS containers, weapons, knives (including steak/cooking knives) are allowed into the campsite or on the festival grounds

  • Drugs and drug paraphernalia are prohibited; anyone found in possession of illegal substances will be handed over to the Gardai

  • No animals will be allowed in the campground; guide-dogs are an exception

  • No Drones/Remote Control Aircraft, Toys & Cars, hoverboards, motorized scooters

  • No tanks of compressed air, helium, no party balloons

  • No open flames (including campfires/fire pits) / tiki torches / fireworks / any types of explosive are allowed on the festival grounds

Ticket categories are as follows:

  • 1 day non camping

  • 1 day camping 


Conditions of Sale

There are no refunds other than the cancellation of the festival. We operate a token system in the bar, there are no refunds for tokens either.

  • Tickets are non-transferable

  • Yurt City will not issue duplicate tickets for lost or stolen tickets

  • Tickets cannot be used as part of any marketing, media or sales promotions (commercial or non-commercial) without the prior written consent of Yurt City

  • Festival go-ers must exchange their tickets for a wristband (once their tickets have been scanned) to enter the festival grounds

  • Festival go-ers will only be allowed to re-enter the festival / campsites if they have the correct wristbands

  • Wristbands removed from the wrist or tampered with will be rendered invalid and will not be replaced

  • Any complaints or compliments should be sent in writing to office@yurtcity.ie 

 9. Travel Info

By Car

●      Travelling on the M1 from the NORTH - At Junction 7 take the N4 Exit for Galway/M6 - Continue onto N4 - Continue straight onto M4 (signs for Galway / M6) - At Junction 5 take the N52 Exit for Tullamore - At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the N52 - Follow festival signage to Yurt City

 

●      Travelling on the M8 from the SOUTH – Continue on M8 heading to Dublin / Fermoy – Merge onto M7 – At Junction 18 take the R445 to Tullamore– Continue on R445 onto N80 – Continue on N80 onto N52 - Follow festival signage to Yurt City

 

●      Travelling on the N4 from the EAST – Continue straight onto M4 (signs for Galway /M6) - At Junction 5 take the N52 Exit for Tullamore - At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the N52 - Follow festival signage to Yurt City

 

●      Travelling on the N6 from the WEST – Continue onto M6 (signs for Dublin) – Continue onto N6 – At Junction 5 take the N52 Exit for Tullamore - At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the N52 - Follow festival signage to Yurt City

 By Bus

●      There will be an official Yurt City coach service from Dublin

●      If you are travelling from elsewhere, check out www.buseireann.ie (Tullamore Bus Station) for timetables and fares

●      The Bus Station is a 10min walk from The People’s Castle

By Train

●      Check out www.irishrail.ie (Tullamore Train Station) for timetables and fares

●      The Train Station is a 10min walk from The People’s Castle

 

Pick-up / Drop-off Points

●      The official pick-up / drop off point for Yurt City is located at the main entrance to the festival off Charleville Road, entrance closest to the train station

 

10. Parking

Parking is available close to the festival entrance and is free of charge

Take care while travelling through the car park; Yurt City does not accept any responsibility for damage caused to vehicles

Yurt City may change the location of the car park area without notice; any changes will be communicated through the festival website and social media

 Disabled Parking

●      Located within general parking, but at the closest point to the exit. 

●      Take care while travelling through the disabled parking car park; Yurt City does not accept any responsibility for damage caused to vehicles

 

11. Campsite

Campsite Rules

●      Festival go-ers may bring food for personal consumption onto the campsite

●      Alcohol bought onsite can be brought into the campsite or from the campsite to the castle grounds or main arena. You can't bring it in on arrival into the festival.

●      NO GLASS containers, weapons, knives (including steak/cooking knives) are allowed into the campsite or on the festival grounds

●      Drugs and drug paraphernalia are prohibited; anyone found in possession of illegal substances will be handed over to the Gardai

●      No animals will be allowed in the campground; guide-dogs are an exception

●      No Drones/Remote Control Aircraft, Toys & Cars, hoverboards, motorized scooters

●      No tanks of compressed air, helium, no party balloons

●      No open flames (including campfires/fire pits) / tiki torches / fireworks / any types of explosive are allowed on the festival grounds

●      Campers are expected to behave in a manner that is courteous to other campers

 

Campsite Cooking Rules

●      Gas canisters / Cylinders / petrol cookers and nitrous oxide are not permitted onto the campsite or into the festival grounds; the only exception to this is where gas canisters and cylinders are fitted within campervans

●      Aerosols over 250 ml are prohibited on the campsite

●      Disposable BBQs are not permitted on the campsite

 

Campsite General Fire Safety

●      Festival go-ers are reminded that fires are not permitted anywhere at the festival (campsite or performance areas); anyone found creating or fueling fire may face eviction from the festival

●      Anyone found burning any unsuitable materials such as toxic materials, other people’s possessions, site infrastructure, trees or hedges onsite will be handed over to the Gardai and liable to eviction / prosecution

●      Assess the site before you pitch your tent; ideally be at your site before sunset so you can see what you’re doing

●      Check that tents are positioned well apart from each other to prevent the risk of a fire spreading; Yurt City campsite stewards can assist in identifying your site

●      Don't use oil-burning appliances in or around tents

●      Don't smoke inside a tent

●      If there’s a fire in your tent….Get everyone out without delay – fires in tents spread extremely quickly

●      If your clothing catches fire, don't run around as this will fan the flames and make them burn faster. Instead, lie on the ground as this makes it harder for the fire to spread. Smother the flames with heavy material (a coat or blanket for example) or roll around to smother the flames

●      Alert any member of security

 

 

 

Boutique Campsite

●      Boutique campsite tickets are currently still available

●      Boutique campsite festival go-ers should arrive via the main entrance to the festival off Charleville Road, entrance closest to the train station

●      Power is not provided on the campsite

●      Gas canisters / Cylinders / petrol cookers and nitrous oxide are not permitted onto the campsite or into the festival grounds; the only exception to this is where gas canisters and cylinders are fitted within campervans

●      Aerosols over 250 ml are prohibited on the campsite

●      Disposable BBQs are not permitted on the campsite

●      Toilets & Accessible Toilets will be located in the main campsite and in the boutique campsite

12. Alcohol Policy

No alcohol is not allowed to be brought on site. It will be confiscated at the entrance gate.

When you're on site alcohol can be moved from arena to campsite & vice versa.

Reasonable pricing will be in all bars on site & you’ll be able to buy cans from our off-license

 

13. Festival Facilities

●      There are no cashpoints on site; the closest ATM is located in Tullamore.

●      A festival currency, known as Yurt City Tokens, will be the only form of payment accepted at bars on site. Yurt City Tokens can be purchased at the main ticket booth between the main arena and campsite area on the festival grounds

●      Food outlets will be located in the main arena, in the castle grounds and also in the campsite. We have a great variety of menus and also cater for food intolerances and allergies

●      Bars outlets will be located in the main arena and also in the castle grounds

●      Festival go-ers may bring food for personal consumption onto the campsite; however, alcohol for personal consumption is not permitted onto the campsite

●      Alcohol bought onsite can be brought from the campsite to the castle grounds or main arena

●      Strictly no trading allowed within the arena without the Premises Licence Holders’ consent

●      There are numerous water points located throughout the festival grounds

●      Parking, disabled parking available. no unauthorised busses/coaches or trucks will be allowed on site

●      Toilets & Accessible Toilets will be located throughout the festival grounds

 

14. Disabled Access / Limited Mobility Info

Yurt City’s disabled ticket policy is such that disabled tickets are sold at full price; complimentary carer tickets are not provided when disabled tickets are purchased

●      Yurt City is located on the grounds of People’s Castle; the main arena is in an open field north of the castle with secondary performance areas located in and around the castle’s grounds. Please note surfaces may be uneven throughout the festival areas so wear appropriate footwear

 

15. Safety & Security

General Safety

●      Ensure you know where your nearest emergency exits are at all times

●      Follow any instructions given by Festival Stewards, Festival Security and Gardaí

●      Do not interfere with emergency vehicles / access routes

●      Move away from any dangerous/antisocial behaviour and notify Festival Security if you see any antisocial behaviour (identified in COLOUR festival tabards)

●      Locate a member of staff for any emergencies, who will be able to assist, or locate the correct assistance; look after yourself and those around you, even people you don't know

●      Yurt City is located on the grounds of People’s Castle; the main arena is in an open field north of the castle with secondary performance areas located in and around the castle’s grounds. Please note surfaces may be uneven throughout the festival areas so wear appropriate footwear

●      Please be respectful to the castle and the environment

●      Prolonged exposure to high volume can cause severe damage to your hearing

●      Strobe lighting may be used at the festival

●      Drink more water; even on mild or overcast days, the sun can have dangerous health effects

●      Remember to use sunscreen; sunburn or cancer can be caused by the sun on unprotected skin

●      Things to leave at home include

●      CCTV and film crews will be onsite; festival attendees may be filmed or sound recorded and footage will be used to promote the festival

●      Yurt City will not accept liability for personal damages, losses or injuries sustained at the festival. This includes damage and losses to property and motor vehicles if the cause is due to the negligence of the ticket holder or the unforeseeable actions of other patrons

 

16. Personal Safety

●      Stay in groups; organise a meeting point with your friends where you will be three times a day (e.g. 2pm, 6pm and 1am) in case you get split up

●      Festivals are busy places so just enjoy going with the flow

●      Don't leave your drink unattended; even soft drinks can be spiked

●      Remember, alcohol or drugs can affect your ability to make safe judgements

●      Check your mobile is charged on a daily basis

●      If you have any concerns about your safety in the campsites go to the campsite fire tower and alert a member of Yurt City stewarding staff

●      Make friends with your neighbours…you can keep an eye on each other's tents; but keep in mind that they're strangers

●      At night, stay on the main roads in the campsites; don't go exploring darker, quieter areas – you can do your exploring in the day

●      If you need medicines with you onsite, keep them with you or keep them secure in the lockers; details coming soon

●      Don't bring valuables to the festival

●      CCTV and film crews will be onsite; festival attendees may be filmed or sound recorded and footage will be used to promote the festival

●      Yurt City will not accept liability for personal damages, losses or injuries sustained at the festival. This includes damage and losses to property and motor vehicles if the cause is due to the negligence of the ticket holder or the unforeseeable actions of other patrons

 

17. Noise

●      Prolonged exposure to high volume can cause severe damage to your hearing

●      It is strongly advised not to bring young children to the festival; if you decide to bring your baby/ toddler to the festival, parents must sign a disclaimer form on admission to the venue

●      Main stage performances commence at 12h00 and conclude at 01h00

●      Other performance areas commence at 12h00 and conclude at 03h00

●      Campers are expected to behave in a manner that is courteous to other campers

There will be a medical centre on site with medical cover available 24/7

20. Security

●      Prior to entering the festival grounds your bags will be searched and a “body pat-down” will take place to ensure no prohibited items are brought onto the festival grounds

●      Follow any instructions given by Stewards, Security and Gardaí

●      Do not interfere with emergency vehicles / access routes

●      Move away from any dangerous/antisocial behaviour and notify Festival Security if you see any antisocial behaviour (identified in COLOUR festival tabards)

●      Locate a member of staff for any emergencies, who will be able to assist, or locate the correct assistance; look after yourself and those around you, even people you don't know

 

21. Crime Prevention

●      Move away from any dangerous/antisocial behaviour and notify Festival Security if you see any antisocial behaviour (identified in COLOUR festival tabards)
